  • Funny and Engaging!

It’s nice to listen to topics about climate change that feel digestible to the listener and relatable on a community level. If they use lingo I’m not familiar with, it’s explained well and they often have funny anecdotes around what they are trying to convey in their topic. The rat episode was awesome as a fellow New Yorker!

Community Land Trusts
Q: What does some of the policy support look like to advance Community Land Trust initiatives?
Policy support includes initiatives like the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPPA), which gives nonprofits first refusal rights to purchase properties before they hit the private market, aiding CLTs to acquire land.
Community Land Trusts
Q: Can you explain what the process looks like for developing a Community Land Trust?
Developing a Community Land Trust takes considerable organizing and time to build a democratically controlled nonprofit, but it is an important tool for communities to address their land use needs and oppose market pressures.
Wrong Direction Wrap-Up
Q: What are technologies or innovations that you want to see more of?
We need to focus on improving existing renewable technologies like solar and wind and ensure that investments genuinely enhance community infrastructure, especially in marginalized areas.
Wrong Direction Wrap-Up
Q: Is false solution the best, the most accurate term that we want to use to describe these technologies?
The term 'wrong direction' is more appropriate as it emphasizes that the technologies are not solutions at all, but rather lead to additional harm for environmental justice communities.
Cumulative Impacts
Q: What do you see as the challenges and opportunities that come along with the implementation of that law?
The law aims to protect EJ communities from additional sources of pollution and has provisions to limit existing pollution levels.
