  • Sarah!

Really wonderful interview with Sarah Holden. She is an exceptional young lady and athlete. It’s extraordinary that she has overcome all the blood clots to return to such an advanced level of athleticism.. I was a bit surprised you didn’t ask how she got the blood clots to begin with. Once she’s off the blood thinners as she concerned that the blood clots will return.? Now that she has gone through many months of this journey I would’ve liked to have heard her response. Thank you for having her ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Future Global Evolution of DEKA FIT - Emily LeRoux
Q: Let's talk about the EMEA champs. Can you clarify the qualification process?
No, the EMEA championships are non-qualifier for most entrants; anyone can enter any category except elite racing, and elites must have raced in an elite event in the last 12 months. There are specific rules about age-group and elite eligibility, with wild-card allowances strictly limited for exceptional circumstances.
Balancing Work & Life with Elite HYROX Performance – Ronan Lindsay
Q: How do you balance family, work, and elite training, and what role does recovery play?
He highlighted a strong, supportive family, a tight inner circle, and a shift toward smarter recovery with HRV monitoring and a coach to guide training, acknowledging it's a continual, imperfect process but essential to maintaining high-level performance.
Balancing Work & Life with Elite HYROX Performance – Ronan Lindsay
Q: What changes did you make to your training to break into the mid- to low-56 minute pro range?
He credited building a bigger aerobic base, disciplined zone training, and data-driven adjustments with his coach, along with targeted work on sled pushes/pulls and wall balls to improve endurance and race execution.
Balancing Work & Life with Elite HYROX Performance – Ronan Lindsay
Q: What is your Hyrox history and how did you get started in the sport?
Ronan explained his switch from Gaelic football to Hyrox after a failed London race where he learned to rely on self-improvement, focusing on gradual volume increases and technique development to raise his performance.
Doping in Hybrid Fitness Racing, the Science, Myths, and Realities – Matt Carpenter
Q: How common would you say doping is within amateur endurance contexts, given limited Hyrox-specific data?
He notes that while Hyrox-specific data is lacking, research from bodybuilding and recreational endurance suggests some prevalence; estimates in recreational athletes range roughly from 0.5% to 2%, with higher figures in bodybuilder contexts, and emphasized the testing gap in amateur settings.
