Having worked in crime scenes for 16 plus years, this podcast is clear and to the point. However, the narrators tone seems a little bit cheerful and upbeat, considering the horrendous crimes involved. It does irk as I have been involved in at least one of the murders. I don’t want the guy to sound morose, but he comes across flippant at best. Like another reviewer opined, the narrator didn’t break tone whilst moving straight to a cheery car sales advert, bizarre!!
I’ve kept listening because of the well researched content. But please, save your time for researching how to pronounce place names over the terrible, terrible banter or your own personal political views.
I really like this podcast and Adam is funny, and pretty laidback. However, I have dropped a star due to the dreadful timing of the ads - one episode in particular was about the shocking IRA bombings in Birmingham and just as he got to describing how a father had to identify not one son’s body but two, suddenly I’m bombarded by a very loud intrusive ad about buying a car! It was almost disrespectful. Apart from that and the other awful ads (necessary evil I guess), all good.
In some ways, this podcast is refreshing: an intelligent host presenting seriously and sensitively with none of the moronic “banter” so many podcasters go in for. However, you really should Google how to pronounce place names (I’m especially thinking of Clydach) before you record. Moreover, drop the dreadful questioning intonation at the end of every phrase — even every couple of words; this unfortunately? renders the podcast? unlistenable?
So interesting!
