In 1994, Gordon Wardell went on TV claiming a gang of men in clown masks had attacked him, tied him up, robbed a building society… and murdered his wife, Carol.
Which is… a lot.

Painkillers. Cold medicine. Morphine, if you're Mark! Something to take the edge off a headache.
In 1982, people across Chicago did exactly that — and some of them never got back up.

The level of care and attention take on this podcast makes it a more ethical true crime podcast. Similar to casefile where there is less hyperbole and more facts. There is banter but it definitely doesn’t waffle on. Great if you’re interested in true crime with a British focus. Just listen to the Steve Irwin episode and was very impressed. The departure from true crime was a great pallet cleanser and shows the quality of the show.
Fantastic true crime podcast! Pleasure to meet you both at CrimeCon Birmingham (Mark for the second time, Bethan the first) I am going back over all previously released and want to say a special thanks for the way you both correctly pronounced the name Hélène. The 18 year old witness of the train murder. Also - tell Mark to be careful with the opiates. 😉🤫🫶🏼
Bethan is ok but Mark drives me crazy with his attempts at psychology. Pretending to understand what it was like to raise a child with learning difficulties decades ago, even daring to suggest Lucy Letby probably became a nurse to be able to attack the vulnerable. This is all pure speculation going on in his head and he needs to wind it in, it’s not for public airing. The “caring” tone he affects while spouting this stuff doesn’t improve it in any shape or form.
What on earth has happened to Mark’s voice? Where has this attempt at a raspy ‘movie trailer’ voice come from? It’s like nails down a chalkboard. Mark’s laddish attitude towards women and people from the LGBTQ community is shocking. Mate, your bigotry is showing. Bethan’s whiny and breathy way of telling the story just makes the whole thing unlistenable. Who the heck PAYS for these people’s extra content?
Two of the thickest people spouting absolute drivel and conjecture.
Wanted to listen to the Lee Boxell episode as was in the news recently due to potential cold case investigation. I could not believe some of the comments made by the hosts. Complete conjecture and assumptions. Very little fact or legal opinion.
Sounded liked two drunks discussing a topic in the pub rather than professional podcasters. Will not be listening to any more.
