American politics, Canadian context. Every Wednesday, Paul Hunter and Katie Simpson sit down with their colleagues to talk through the big stories in the U.S. capitol and ask the question: what does this mean for Canada? Unscripted, smart analysis from reporters with a foot in both countries, and a press pass to the White House.

Clocking in at 108 minutes, U.S. President Donald Trump's state of the union address was the longest in U.S. history, with the only mention of Canada coming during a tribute to the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team. It’s all part of the 'U.S. is winning... more

Please, for the love of everything, use « USA » and not « America » when referring to the country south of the border. While it is not the only or even main factor driving their imperialism, words matter. Why do you think everyone was so excited by that part of Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl? Well, everyone outside the US that is.
Courageous, insightful hosts that Canadians can be proud of. Their perspective is important
The hosts are completely out of touch. Maybe they’ve been living two blocks away from the White House for too long. They are completely indoctrinated with the USA propaganda. If you want to hear more of national guard is good and USA is completely safe for the privileged and protected, this podcast is for you. I’d just go a read the president’s posts on truth social if I wanted this garbage.
I find your insights and coverage to be quite incisive and eye opening , unlike anything I hear on the dozens of American politics podcasts I listen to. I’m also really angered by our President’s mistreatment of Canada and appreciate your perspective. It’s like listening to an outside objective view, but from someone who really knows you. Thank you for your reporting and analysis. Excellent show
Much appreciation to all those who host and contribute behind the scenes to this podcast. It fills a large gap in the Information Dome providing a truly Canadian perspective on world events unfettered by influence from US media giants. Straightforward, impactful, and engaging. I’ll take as much of this as you can give. Thanks to you and CBC for your continued hard work and dedication helping to make us all better informed.
