  • Love the podcast but please stop bonus segment!

The show is a great weekly in depth review of current happenings. But whomever had the stupid idea of antagonizing subscribers by polluting the pod stream with repeats of the episodes one just listened to is out of touch! Think!

Q: Tell me how Winnie-the-Pooh then came about.
Pooh originated from Milne writing poems for his son during rainy days, then turning those poems into stories after his publisher urged another book, with Pooh named after a bear seen at the London Zoo and the playful naming from a swan incident.

Q: How does the episode frame the use of memes and AI in modern warfare propaganda?
It frames AI-generated Lego memes as a scalable, accessible form of propaganda that shapes domestic audiences, discussing how such content can simplify complex issues and influence public perception in ways that traditional media might not, with Iran identified as a key player in this new media war.
Middle East latest, Ada Limón, Pope politics, Meme war, Whit Fraser
Q: What did Ada Limón say about the role of poetry in public life during times of crisis?
She described poetry as a mode of listening and feeling that helps people access deep emotions, connect with one another, and find language for experiences that are hard to express, suggesting poetry should be shared broadly to foster belonging and resilience.
Oil shocks, Disappearing dining rooms, Youth social media bans, Planet Money
Q: Natasha, could you explain how Canada's Online Harms Bill and related policies aim to address online safety beyond a simple ban on under-16s?
Experts argue for a broader regulatory framework that targets business models, data practices, and platform designs to reduce harm, rather than relying solely on age bans, which may be easily circumvented and do not address core incentives of tech platforms.
