  • Trusted Source

This is one of the few good architecture podcasts, devoid of the normal vapid self-promotion and promotion of luxury brands that typifies architectural podcasts. This podcast is focused towards people in the AEC industry, and focuses towards the software side of the business. The tone is conversational and easy to listen to. The episodes may be long and can go off topic but the intention is good. The podcaster is a long-term reliable commentator on the technology side of the business.

222: 'You're Automating the Wrong Thing', with Mirco Bianchini
Q: What's the entry point you recommend for teams new to this world?
Start with desktop tools like Closed Desktop Cloud Code and Cloud Cowork to lower the intimidation of the CLI, then gradually explore skills, agents, and MCPs to build a practical internal toolkit.
222: 'You're Automating the Wrong Thing', with Mirco Bianchini
Q: Could you give kind of an example of a potential connection between data and workflows you're talking about?
Mirco describes MCPs as wrappers around APIs that allow non-developers to interact with data and services in plain language, enabling cross-team data flows, dashboards, and apps that previously required heavy coding.
221: ‘Architecture’s Busyness Trap’, with Joachim Viktil
Q: Could you elaborate on that experience that you had? I'm curious what it was that you saw there that was magic.
Joachim described how he realized that the expertise of engineers and architects can be scaled through software instead of just through human effort. He recognized that software could enhance workflows and disseminate expertise widely, thus addressing the need for scalability in design processes.
220: ‘Lightweight Architectural Structures’, with Joshua Schultz
Q: Why were you interested in lightweight structures specifically in creating this book?
Schultz expresses his passion for lightweight structures as a combination of structural and architectural form, highlighting their potential for efficiency and sustainability.
220: ‘Lightweight Architectural Structures’, with Joshua Schultz
Q: Can you tell us about yourself and where you're coming from when it comes to this?
Joshua discusses his journey from wanting to be an architect to discovering architectural engineering, emphasizing how structural engineering and architectural design can inform each other.
