True Crime South Africa is the first victim-focused true-crime podcast in the country. Host, Nicole Engelbrecht, researches each case herself using media coverage, trial footage, social media sources and often by talking to some of the individuals involved. Using her skills as a creative writer and her passion for true crime, she crafts each script to ensure that listeners are given a deep dive into the case mechanics as well as an understanding of the victims as human beings. The podcast covers both solved and unsolved South African true crime cases. The unsolved cases are often cold cases which can benefit from awareness being brought to them. This concept has been used in the US for many years and to great success. The listenership formed around true crime podcasts becomes a community that advocates for victims and resolution for families. South African victims now have their own voice too. True Crime South Africa publishes weekly, alternating between full-length case episodes and s... more

  • Me, myself and I

This is a good podcast, although it is mostly cases that has already been covered by Gérard or others. Racial segregation is always mentioned, which wants to make me scream. Because it is NOT always about colour. Serial killers are (worldwide) mostly white males. Please stop telling us about the politics, because its very rarely a factor.

  • Excellent Content, unfamiliar cases

This podcast is well researched, the crimes are all new to me, and the host has a soothing voice. She hits the right tone, and it feels almost like a smart friend telling you about these heinous crimes. I highly recommend it. It’s a new favorite.

  • My best friend in the Kitchen

So after my hubby passed away in 2016 I had to find a job. And I did. And I love it. But my salary needs to be fed by additional work. So I do catering after hours. Her calm voice and putting her in the mind of both the victim and the perpetrator. Dwelling into their past, giving us insight to why they did it. She takes ... more
