Trial by Water is an investigative podcast series about Robert Farquharson, who has been locked up for decades for an unthinkable crime: murdering his three sons in a dam on Father’s Day, 2005.
Now scientists and lawyers are asking the question: did we get it wrong? And is this man in prison for a crime he didn’t commit?

Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast - thanks to all those who worked on it!
Some comments on here obviously have no idea of what shock is and how it can manifest and as such shouldn’t judge a whole podcast on whether the man is guilty or not. It’s a well researched and well told podcast that is all you need to know…
a solid look from a different vantage point… i think that the journalist reaches too far to indicate a lack of guilt. my sense, after reading helen garner’s book, court transcripts, and media is that he’s guilty… but it certainly raises elements that could/should’ve been used in the second trial.
a really, really sad story.
This is one of the podcasts that makes me so angry (which usually means it’s well done). This guy is obviously innocent. Brutal.
At the end of the day, he’s guilty of killing those kids. Whether he intended to or not, he killed them. That Christian woman had her blinkers on and she’s just muddying the waters. What a shame.
