We take our name from something the writer James Baldwin said: “People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them.” We want to break people free from those stories. Whether it is women's history, Black history, military history, ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Pride of the Peaks: Michaela Strachan on the Woman who Fought for Nature
Q: Do you feel happy in the countryside?
Yes, I do, actually. And I've noticed a real change in recent years. In my twenties, if somebody had said to me, let's go for a walk in the countryside, I would have said, why? But now I crave it and I find it brings a real sense of calm and happiness.
The Pride of the Peaks: Michaela Strachan on the Woman who Fought for Nature
Q: And when would you say you really got to the countryside?
I think it's like anything. It's the more you're introduced to something and the more time you spend getting knowledge about something, then the more passionate you become.
Hall of Fame: Sarah-Jane Morris Hails Music's Miss America
Q: Who would you like to nominate?
The guest nominates Mary Margaret O'Hara, highlighting her significance in the Canadian music scene, her influential but under-recognized status, and the belief that she deserves broader attention for her innovative approach to singer-songwriter music.
Useless Mouths: Gwen Strauss on Untold Stories of Forbidden Love in the Holocaust
Q: How did Milena influence Greta's actions and the broader survival of prisoners?
Milena used her intelligence and network to maneuver within the camp's dangerous system, encouraging Greta to take on roles that could save others, and orchestrating situations that protected people from gassing or abuse.
Useless Mouths: Gwen Strauss on Untold Stories of Forbidden Love in the Holocaust
Q: Why focus on Milena and Greta's story of love in a concentration camp?
The hosts explain that recovering these intimate, suppressed histories helps balance the dominant narratives about the era, showing how personal relationships and acts of resistance persisted even in the most oppressive conditions.
