  • Generally Good

Jasper does a great job, really informative podcast. One exception- the caddy episode, awful. Whomever that fella is, you do not want him as a looper. When a caddy spends that much time saying “not my job,” he literally makes caddies sound like handouts. Single loop a caddy’s dream? Not if you want to make money. This guy is the but of the barn jokes.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 93: Building Broomsedge
Q: Do you have any hot takes in golf course architecture?
I think some of the modern neoclassical greens have gotten a little much in terms of just kind of like crazy undulation.
Episode 93: Building Broomsedge
Q: What do you recommend for people to play if they come to Broomsedge?
I think it's the only 18-hole Donald Ross in South Carolina, and it's only 15 minutes away, or at least the only 18 holes is still relatively intact.
Episode 93: Building Broomsedge
Q: What's your personal design philosophy and why did you choose a slightly well off the beaten track piece of land would be the best way of describing it?
My philosophy is finding a site that we could just drape a golf course over and really focus on the essential elements, not finding a site that really didn't require any earth moving.
Episode 93: Building Broomsedge
Q: What was the biggest learning curve then?
The biggest learning curve for me was really on the planning side and how far in advance you have to plan this stuff.
Episode 93: Building Broomsedge
Q: Can you just give us a wee elevator pitch on Broomsedge, just so people who haven't heard it might understand what they're getting into when we're talking in this podcast?
A bunch of psycho golf nuts got together to build a really cool golf course.
