Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#202 Build Consistency That Actually Lasts
Q: How should someone handle cravings and sustainability in a diet while aiming for fat loss?
Incorporate a planned refeed or higher-calorie day once per week to boost satiety hormones and reduce cravings, while ensuring the overall weekly calories still support fat loss or the planned body composition goal; this makes adherence more sustainable.
#202 Build Consistency That Actually Lasts
Q: What should you consider after finishing a lean transformation when planning the next phase?
Determine the next phase by your goal (recomposition, muscle gain, or cutting further) and tailor calories, macro targets, and training frequency accordingly, recognizing that different goals require different programming and progression strategies.
#202 Build Consistency That Actually Lasts
Q: Scott is asking about tracking progress and measuring results.
Track progress by weekly photos, morning body weight, and simple lifestyle metrics; keep a strict, repeatable routine (e.g., weigh in on Saturday mornings), and use these data points to determine if you followed the plan, adjusted calories, or altered activity levels.
#190 Triceps, Training Integrity, and Calling BS in the Fitness Industry
Q: How should one approach training for the triceps to maximize growth and target different heads?
Use variations of triceps extensions while keeping hand placement comfortable and aligned with carry angle; emphasize overhead extensions to bias the long head and reserve overhead work for later in the workout after elbows are warmed up to protect joints.
#190 Triceps, Training Integrity, and Calling BS in the Fitness Industry
Q: What is the most effective way to bulk up without gaining excess fat?
Maintain a small calorie surplus (about 200–300 calories/day) with a clear protein target, follow a structured progressive overload program, emphasize whole, minimally processed foods, and monitor calories and macros to stay on track during bulking.
