  • Was Good….

I love marketing news, ideas and trends. I want to love this podcast, and did for a year. Then the election happens and the sheer amount of political complaining that has nothing to do with marketing is just staggering since the election. I don’t care. You guys hate Trump. I really could care less. I skip ahead every time, but its just goes on and on lately and its only opinions on politics. 15 minutes now? Who cares? Go to 404 Media or Gary V or someone else.

  • Love the banter, football, marketing, and all!

I must confess. In addition to staying on top of the latest content marketing trends, I also appreciate the football talk. As a non-sports person in a heavy sports state (Mass.), I can keep up with work conversations and still add in that marketing spin.

Robert and Joe do a great job leveraging their years of experience to help paint a full picture on what’s happening in the marketing industry. I am a long-time listener because of their awareness of trends, willingness to experiment, and authe... more

  • Not as it used to be

It was once THE show for me to listen to and I did it almost religiously. It was the primary source of news and knowledge for everything content marketing related. I used to listen to every single episode, some of them even multiple times to analyze and take notes.

    Sadly it is no more.

It has become more of a life-style show and heavily US focused. There’s more football, economics and politics that actual marketing insight.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Anthropic and The AI Scarlet Letter (545)
Q: Can you give a 30-second overview of watermarking and what it means for content provenance?
Watermarking is largely a mathematical fingerprint that indicates content was processed by a particular AI model; it does not prove authorship and can be bypassed or replaced with other watermarking schemes, so the real value is regulatory compliance and signaling rather than absolute proof.
Special "Ask Us Anything" Episode (517)
Q: Should marketers clearly separate content marketing from sales enablement content?
Yes, and mixing them can weaken content strategy as they serve different purposes with distinct goals and metrics.
Special "Ask Us Anything" Episode (517)
Q: As AI takes over more execution, will small businesses and solopreneurs still need and pay for human marketing strategy?
Yes, human consultants will still be necessary as they humanize marketing, enabling personal relationships which AI can't replicate.
Special "Ask Us Anything" Episode (517)
Q: In the age of GEO, how should membership organizations decide what content to keep versus behind a paywall, especially when balancing search visibility with exclusive expert value?
Organizations need to determine how valuable the content is versus how much should remain accessible for search visibility. Creating something specific that people wouldn't usually search for can justify placing it behind a paywall.
TikTok You Don't Stop (498)
Q: How do you see the balance between audio-only and video podcasting playing out in the future?
An audio-focused show can still thrive depending on its niche audience, but it can benefit from video marketing to build its listener base.
