As someone who has spent years navigating a labyrinth of psychiatric diagnoses and medication plans—often with little explanation from clinicians—discovering Dr. Cody Armstrong’s podcast has been profoundly validating. Psychiatry appointments, in my experience, rarely shed light on why a specific drug is prescribed or how it actually acts in the body. The pharmacodynamics, receptor profiles, and possible interactions remain frustratingly opaque, forcing patients like me to hunt for clarity indep... more

As a new practicing PMHNP, I am so thankful I came across this gem of a podcast! Full of useful insight and information as well as giving me so many psych pearls that might have been learned the hard way. Thank you Dr. Armstrong for your time and dedication to make each episode informative and free without ads/conflicts of interest. I listen daily on my way to work and appreciate your expertise. As you said, psychiatry is both a science and an art. Thanks again!!

Yup, some people run late chronically, whereas some people are always on time because they were brought up to arrive early or have an internal belief t... more
5/5 Will listen again. Informative and interesting , which is to say, quite an accomplishment given the sheer number of podcasts that are as numerous as grains of sand and just as dry.

A deep dive into psychiatric medications and related health topics, with a strong focus on pharmacology, clinical decision-making, and practical guidance for real-world practice. Across installments, the host blends historical context, evidence-based critique, and actionable dosing or management tips, often highlighting safety, insurance hurdles, and how lifestyle factors intersect with medication outcomes.
