  • Great pod, need more questions of Jason

Love the show especially the local politics focus. I want to say I love the Jason Proctor stories too, but they are rather complicated and the listener would greatly benefit from Stephen chiming in with questions and the odd mini-explanation. The VPD one in particular had me lost pretty quickly

  • Not catching my attention

I really want to love this podcast but despite listening to multiple episodes, I am having a hard time engaging with it. Not sure, if it’s the host, interviewees or the subject, it’s very blah to me. Average at best

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is Vancouver ready for the FIFA Men's World Cup?
Q: Do you think Vancouver is ready to host the World Cup?
The interviewees and reporters reflect mixed views, with some saying Vancouver has been preparing and is ready, while others express concerns about crowds, traffic disruption, and whether the city will fully benefit.
How does B.C. Ferries determine when to cancel a sailing for bad weather?
Q: How does BC Ferries translate a weather forecast into a cancellation decision?
The captain has the final say, but the decision is guided by a centralized Operations Centre that feeds live meteorological data into a color-coded matrix, balancing forecast certainty with ship-specific safety considerations before making a call.
Why is Langley taking on so much debt?
Q: What is happening financially in Langley that's different from other municipalities?
Langley is taking on a much larger debt load by funding many capital projects upfront and pushing payments over a long horizon, rather than paying as you go or using a more balanced mix of debt and CACs, which has drawn both support and scrutiny.
Simons takes over old Nordstrom space
Q: How does Simons plan to balance digital and physical shopping in this new Vancouver store?
Leblanc emphasizes a blended approach where about a third of sales come from digital channels and two-thirds from physical stores, with the store serving as a human-centered experience that complements online shopping and reinforces the brand's heritage and personalized service.
Simons takes over old Nordstrom space
Q: Why was Pacific Centre chosen for Simons' next flagship in Vancouver?
Leblanc explains that Pacific Centre is a premier, centrally located site in one of Canada's most dynamic cities, aligning with Simons' strategy to grow coast-to-coast while maintaining a strong downtown foothold and enabling close proximity to a diverse customer base.
