The host and publisher Jesse Brown is divisive figure. Sometimes this can filter through to genuinely good and interesting content and other times it craters the show entirely.
It’s a Canadian, small media company and that in and of itself deserves a chance and a listen. Some of the other hosts and shows in the network like the Back bench in its various permutations and Commons are more consistently good to excellent.
Anti west propaganda
While there’s some value here, there are some aspects of the podcast I’m not into — like the surprisingly shallow analysis of some social or political opponents. “Know your enemy” — it’s more effective to strike at their centre of gravity instead of casting low-quality aspersions. Less importantly (and more superficially), I’m mildly annoyed by the intro music and grammatically incensed by the name of the podcast. Regardless, congrats on the relative popularity.
It's fine
I’ve been an avid listener for 8 years and have enjoyed so many of the great shows brought to us by Canadaland. However, the quality of the show(s) has gone downhill rapidly and the biased view of the war on the Palestinian people and Jesse’s Zionist rhetoric has made it uncomfortable for me to listen to any of the shows anymore.
