  • Great podcast

But… I refuse to give any of my time to Angelo Isidorou and JJ McCullough. You can disagree with people and then there’s whatever these two do all over social media. Disappointing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is Canada just one big “situationship”? (J.J. McCullough)
Q: Is the country falling apart?
He contends that Canada is not falling apart and that the federation remains in relatively good shape, cautioning against doomism and sensationalism, because the system continues to produce acceptable outcomes for most people.
Is Canada just one big “situationship”? (J.J. McCullough)
Q: So JJ., whether it's Quebec sovereignty, Alberta sovereignty, First Nation sovereignty, is Canada an actual country or just an ongoing negotiation?
McCullough argues that Canada functions as a flexible federation where sovereignty questions are addressed within political and constitutional processes, and that while movements exist, the system largely mediates grievances rather than dissolving the country.
Are dating apps fueling toxic dating trends? (Amy Chan)
Q: Is there any good in AI for matchmaking, or is it all bad?
AI can be used for good if people stay self-aware and use it to enhance personalization rather than mass messaging. The drawback comes when users copy and paste messages to many people, which dehumanizes the dating experience.
Are dating apps fueling toxic dating trends? (Amy Chan)
Q: What are some of these trends and why are they bad?
The trends like ghost lighting and Shrek-ing reflect a broader shift toward disposability in dating, where people treat others as interchangeable. The commentary also points out that both men and women contribute to these patterns, and that the abundance of options fosters a buying‑and‑return mentality rather than building genuine connection.
Who is pushing conspiracy theories in Canada?
Q: So when we think of Canadian conspiracy content, the Triple C, what exactly are we talking about?
We're talking about a pattern of ideas—including distrust of vaccines and health information, fears about government overreach, and content around the World Economic Forum—that travels across social media and is amplified by a relatively small set of active accounts.
