  • distracting noise on episodes

The content looks great. The background noises in the episode I want to listen to as a trial make it actually impossible to listen to this podcast or take in any of the information. (ACT episode). They are very distracting, startling, and confusing and make it so that you’re paying attention to the background noise and not the actual podcast. Otherwise, looks great.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How to Heal Attachment Wounds - Anxious or Avoidant Attachment styles w/ Jessica Baum
Q: Can attachment styles be permanent, or is there room for change?
Attachment styles are not fixed; they can shift with neuroplastic changes and intentional healing, moving toward earned security when supported by safe, relational environments.
Social Anxiety Skills That Actually Help w/ Dr. Deborah Dobson
Q: What should someone do when physical signs of anxiety become overwhelming in social situations?
Pause when needed, use grounding techniques (e.g., breathing, cold water, small movements), and re-enter the situation with a plan to stay engaged. If necessary, take a brief break and then return to the interaction.
Social Anxiety Skills That Actually Help w/ Dr. Deborah Dobson
Q: How can someone begin to practice exposure without feeling overwhelmed?
Start with small, manageable steps—random acts of exposure—like saying hello to a cashier or initiating a brief conversation on a bus. Gradually increase the challenge, ensuring you don't rely on safety behaviors and you credit yourself for progress.
Social Anxiety Skills That Actually Help w/ Dr. Deborah Dobson
Q: What are common distortions people with social anxiety experience?
Common distortions include thinking you look stupid, that others will reject you or think you're awkward, and that nobody will like you. These thoughts are typically inaccurate and blown out of proportion, which maintains the avoidance cycle.
Social Anxiety Skills That Actually Help w/ Dr. Deborah Dobson
Q: What exactly is social anxiety and how does it typically present in daily life?
Dr. Dobson explains that social anxiety involves excessive worry about being judged by others, leading to avoidance, negative self-talk, and safety behaviors. It often coexists with empathy for others, but people get stuck focusing on how they appear rather than on authentic interaction.
