  • Informative & Entertaining

I highly recommend this podcast! I’ve always found Eric Grenier can present polling and political intelligence in a useful way that gives context to the story. I love that he’s slightly wonkish, but he translates his insights in way that’s understandable and entertaining. And his connections means he can get great guests with equally interesting insights - authorities on the topics and ones the general public doesn’t generally have access to.

I look forward to each episode! Thanks Mr. Grenier!

  • Canadian politics deep dive

Eric has a wellspring of knowledge on the landscape of Canadian politics, in addition to what insights his guests bring Eric is able to break down almost any issue into its fundamental parts. I would pay his tab at any bar just to listen to any musing he may have, truly a treasure.

  • Incisive and interesting analysis

Eric Grenier is brilliant at making what would normally be dry analysis of Canadian politics genuinely interesting, and the guests have also been very good. These podcasts really complement the written content on The Writ well, it's a very informative and entertaining combination.

Ep. 146: What's at stake in Newfoundland and Labrador's election
Q: What has been the public reaction to the Churchill Falls MOU?
The public is generally confused and eager for details, as many want it to be beneficial but lack clarity on its implications.
The Numbers: Days of Decision in BC, NB — and for Justin Trudeau
Q: If it looks like Trudeau will step, be pushed down, does that increase the chance that the NDP roll the dice to face the known opponent?
The NDP wouldn't gain advantage as they could be easily defeated in the scenario of a conservative majority if they hold a leadership election now.
The Numbers: Snap elections, byelections and Trudeau's leadership
Q: Could Trudeau still hold on to party leadership if the Liberals lose?
It would be hard for Trudeau to explain a defeat in a seat that the Liberals have historically held, making it unlikely he could maintain his leadership position.
Ep. #127: Wild times in B.C. politics
Q: Will more BCU MLAs present themselves in the next election as conservatives?
The sense is that the remaining BCU MLAs are loyal and may not cross over, but with new campaigning conditions, more might be tempted if the polls continue to favor the Conservatives.
