Who's this for? Not poetry lovers. Despite being a "literary life" Podcast, the speaker hates people who devote their life to literature, academics; is both very elitist and anti-intellectual; doesn't care much for literature. Compl.dismisses entirely lit. movements. Rails against the idea of thinking hard about a poem and avoids "over"interpretation. Gives the readings a bad aftertaste. The poems go woefully underinterpreted. Fundamentally uncurious about literature. A robot could do this show.... more
I have always enjoyed reading poetry just for the beauty of it, but have often felt like I could be getting more out of what is being offered. The insights shared by Mr. Banks, and his modeling of poetry well read, have helped me to unlock a greater appreciation for this beautiful form of art and expression.
