  • Smart and savvy must listen

As a retired finance executive, I have Bloomberg, WSJ, FT, and Kristen and Jen in my rotation for keeping up on market chatter. They have quality guests and ask the right questions. Their Industry recaps are icing on the cake.

I started listening as I tried to get my head around the financial services industry better with the goal of applying to internships in my penultimate year of University. Kristen and Jen have demystified the sector enormously and provided me with a new found confidence and excitement to start my career. I often mention the podcast in interviews and at networking events like a women in banking breakfast I attended. I reconnected with one of the senior bankers via LinkedIn afterwards and she had s... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Iran Is Shaking the Oil Markets. What the Top Commodities Traders Are Thinking Right Now
Q: Can you explain the WTI vs Brent dynamic and what role the different grades and geography play in pricing today?
WTI is the U.S.-focused benchmark reflecting local production and demand, while Brent represents a broader international basket; differences in grades, refinery configurations, and shipping costs create persistent spreads that traders monitor to gauge demand signals and regional supply conditions.
Iran Is Shaking the Oil Markets. What the Top Commodities Traders Are Thinking Right Now
Q: First, to get us kicked off here, Andreas, could you walk us through what's actually going on with Iran and why it matters for global oil markets?
The conflict affects shipping routes, refinery throughput, and the perception of risk in the market; the Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint that, if constrained, reduces supply and moves prices, while the broader geopolitical tension shifts expectations about future supply and the balance of global demand.
Industry S4E7 "Points of Emphasis" | Hostile Takeovers
Q: Where does the tension between Yasmin and Harper stem from?
The tension comes from a mix of betrayal, ambition, and their different approaches to power and survival in the ruthless world of finance.
TWSS x CNBC's Dan Nathan & Guy Adami: "He Said She Said" | 100 Year Bond + Paramount / WBD Update
Q: What does this mean for US treasuries, if anything at all?
The discussion elaborates on how the issuance of 100-year bonds affects the pricing and spread of U.S. treasuries.
TWSS x CNBC's Dan Nathan & Guy Adami: "He Said She Said" | SaaSpocolyspe + Elon Musk's SpaceX / xAI Merger
Q: How much of this do you think is an overreaction?
While the market seems to be overly punitive on SaaS, time will show that companies won't drop subscriptions rapidly; there remains optimism for recovery.
