  • Great wisdom for all aspects of the game

The podcast has a great format and a wealth of practical wisdom. I’m a rookie coach and lucky to have senior coaches in the club I can consult but this podcast reveals questions I wouldn’t even know to ask about on my own. It really helped me form my identity and approach as I started out in this first season of mine.

8 Keys to Building a Successful Volleyball Program With US Men's National Team Libero Erik Shoji
Q: Coach Sean, as a libero, can you share your top two drills or routine that has helped you progress and how often do you do them?
Shoji emphasizes simple, high-volume rep work before practice, focusing on footwork and angles, plus regular video study to understand tendencies and positioning. He also values mindful, controlled reps and watching hitters and servers to inform positioning and technique.
Footwork, Hands & Decision Making with Canadian Olympian Setter Brett Walsh
Q: What are you thinking about when it comes to decision making and what are you teaching your setters?
First, emphasize that the quality of the set matters more than tactical decisions; train baselines with highly hittable sets, then build decision-making on top of that as players gain experience and can read blockers and ball location.
They Lost Last Year… Then Won a National Championship with Carolyn O'Dwyer
Q: What were the two big strategic factors you credit for reaching the national championship this year?
Carolyn highlights depth across all positions and the learning from last year's defeat as the key drivers—depth created a strong training environment, while returning athletes used their previous disappointment as motivation to improve and close the gap in big moments.
