We Are OLLIN is a podcast about training as a lifelong practice, not a program you finish. Hosted by Michael Blevins — coach, writer, and founder of OLLIN — it treats fitness as a laboratory for agency, self-assessment, and survival readiness rather than another optimization game. Each episode interrogates the assumptions the fitness industry sells as gospel: that intensity equals progress, that a... more

  • Wish they would let guests talk more

Have followed since non prophet, but this new format with the guests Michael talks so much and at the guests.

He should use his extensive knowledge to get really interesting interviews.

  • Super stoked!!!

I started with Dissect and followed over to NonProphet, and I could not be more excited about Unfvcked!

Maybe it is premature to leave a 5 star review for a podcast that doesn’t even have a full episode yet, but after years of listening to Michael’s thoughts & ideas with & without Mark and others, the anticipation of this alone is worth at least 5 stars.

Endurance Q&A: Your Most-Asked Questions, Answered
Q: What is the correct amount of endurance needed for sport-specific goals or generally?
Sport demands dictate base requirements. For general ability, aim to hold a sustained endurance pace for 90 minutes to two hours without cardiac drift, then build gradually. For sport-specific paths, tailor the base to the event duration and required duration of steady effort, recognizing that ultra-endurance scenarios may render some rules moot and require different strategies.
Endurance Q&A: Your Most-Asked Questions, Answered
Q: How do you factor wear and tear and longevity with running, and how should someone reintroduce running after a layoff?
Longevity depends on dosing and balance with other stresses. For returning to running, start with a methodical blend of walking and running in short intervals until you can run non-stop for 30–45 minutes with minimal pain. Focus on developing the small musculature and gradual progression rather than pushing back to peak volumes immediately.
Endurance Q&A: Your Most-Asked Questions, Answered
Q: Building endurance versus maintaining, what's the minimum dose?
Minimum dose depends on base level and goals. For general preparedness, around six to eight hours of volume per week can start to build endurance, but as base increases you'll need more volume and careful tapering. Maintenance requires less; endurance and aerobic ability are relatively stable, but you should still include easy, lower-volume work to sustain them.
Endurance Q&A: Your Most-Asked Questions, Answered
Q: Is conversational pace or nasal breathing a good cue for zone two, and what truly marks zone two if not these signals?
Nasal breathing and conversation pace can be hints, but they are not reliable standalone markers. True zone two aligns with sustainable lactate processing around a threshold where lactate clearance starts to falter; if you can sustain a pace without lactate accumulating significantly, you're approaching zone two, but the best marker is lactate response rather than conversation alone.
Endurance Q&A: Your Most-Asked Questions, Answered
Q: First question is how to identify what's limiting endurance performance? More base work versus higher intensity? Is it high or low?
The limiter is often the efficiency base rather than output alone. If someone can push hard but struggles to sustain it, the bottleneck tends to be aerobic base and oxygen processing efficiency. Building a strong base, i.e., higher volumes of easy, aerobic work, generally allows higher peak outputs later, whereas chasing intensity without base leaves you stuck in a low-efficiency state.
