  • Peter Zeihan is a bad guest

He sounds intelligent, but as soon as you know about the topic he’s discussing, you realize he makes wild conclusions. For example, his understanding of NATO “Supreme Commander” is just incorrect. I’ll add his random accusations people are under Russian control.

  • My years in China

My 4.5 years in China (2016-21) was enlightening. The people (PRC) is the best I’ve been treated. However, the CCP? A dangerous entity and these gentlemen are exactly right on much. But, the people are deeply patriotic whether they agree with their government or not. I envy their patriotism. With a couple of my colleagues there are married to PLA staff officers and although they never directly revealed much, they indirectly did so. Intentionally so or not, I don’t know. It’s a safe country becau... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside Cartel Operations in Arizona with Former SWAT Commander Matthew Thomas
Q: What does the shift to synthetic drugs and narcotics trafficking imply for law enforcement strategy going forward?
Shifts in commodities required adapting tactics, border coordination, and policy support; focusing on borders, port entries, and synthetic drug networks became essential as traditional bulk smuggling declined in some areas.
Inside Cartel Operations in Arizona with Former SWAT Commander Matthew Thomas
Q: How did undercover work evolve from the late 2000s to today, and how did that shape your approach to counter-cartel operations?
Undercover roles remained primarily local and episodic, with a move toward leveraging federal resources as needed; operatives acted as supporting players to bigger cases, using short stints rather than long-term deep cover.
Inside Cartel Operations in Arizona with Former SWAT Commander Matthew Thomas
Q: What are your thoughts on the leadership changes within the cartels, particularly around El Mencho and potential successors?
Predictions are uncertain; the cartels' leadership can shift due to internal power vacuums, but the structures are complex and organized, suggesting transitions may occur with ongoing jockeying rather than a single clear successor.
The Corrupt Incentives Inside America’s Healthcare System (with Brigham Buhler)
Q: How does the Alan AI assistant fit into Ways2Well's approach?
Alan interfaces with patient data (blood work, DEXA, VO2 max, genetics) to answer questions, guide treatment, and document clinician-patient conversations, effectively extending access to personalized medical guidance.
The Corrupt Incentives Inside America’s Healthcare System (with Brigham Buhler)
Q: What inspired Buhler to pursue a patient-centered model of care at Ways2Well?
His brother's opioid overdose and his experiences seeing how insurance and pharma constrained ethical care motivated him to create cash-pay, accessible, data-driven treatments that prioritize the patient's health journey over profits.
