The case stays with you, and I’m grateful for your spotlight on it. I am so very sorry for the family. One thought… it was mentioned: what if a person hunting boar had a dog, and that dog turned on Christopher? Or.. more likely in my mind… what if a pig did? Most boar injuries are in the leg region. If a tusk got caught in his shorts, or a boar tried to bite that area, not only would it pull him down- it would make the neck region much more likely for attack. What I really liked about this podcast was the information about the cruelty of trapping Mountain Lions. I appreciate the information about the terrible ways that humans treat animals sometimes.
As a wildlife biologist who roams the wilderness for weeks at a time, I always store up a healthy supply of true crime ear snacks before I leave an area of reception. I guess it because I am a wildlife detective that I am also a fan of true crime detective work. When the this show took several tangents into the world of wildlife research, I was elated. The human world is full of mystery but so is the natural world. I love how this show invites the intersection of these two ideas. Great stuff.
I appreciate the thorough reporting reported on in this case, and the sensitivity taken on all accounts for the myriad of people and backgrounds presented in this story.
I love love love this podcast! Every season is great! It’s true crime with real, quality investigation and the stories are told sensitively and empathetically as well, which is super important for me when looking for a true crime podcast.

A true-crime series that blends investigative reporting with wildlife and forensic analysis, focusing on tangled investigations where official theories (often wildlife-related) clash with alternate explanations. Across seasons, listeners are guided through meticulous reporting, legal and forensic considerations, and family-centered storytelling that emphasizes nuance, ethics, and accountability. Notable strengths include rigorous sourcing, thoughtful interviews with wildlife experts, journalists, and families, plus a willingness to challenge the prevailing narrative in difficult, high-stakes cases. A standout aspect is its willingness to evolve from a single case to a broader examination of systemic issues—whether in law enforcement, autops... more
