  • I tried.

I really tried to like this podcast but the amount of “let’s go!” has become unbelievably annoying. It’s made it hard to listen to any of the content when it’s being said every other sentence.

  • Not for regular people

I have really tried to listen to this podcast many times but it’s just not a winner. The hosts are very focused on themselves and their limited world of elite ultrarunning in the western part of North America. It doesn’t feel like a sportscast type show either because the coverage of Western states was lame and lacking in breadth. They focused on what they did that day and not all the interesting things that happened. They vibe like spoiled sorority sisters. Their most recent podcast is just ann... more

  • Love this group of ladies!

I’ve been listening to the Trail Network Podcast since the beginning and I just love the stories these women share, their enthusiasm for our sport and how much they support us, even the non-elite runners. Their guests are fabulous and some of my favorite episodes are when they’re all chatting or interviewing each other. Thanks for continuing to show up for the community!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 103: Robyn Lesh’s Path From Sailing to Competing at the Front
Q: Tell me first, before we dive into sailing, because I know that was your previous career, give me a happiness hit. Give me something that you're stoked on right now, whether it's today, this week, what's bringing you joy?
Robyn shares that spring in Colorado is turning green and that the overall energy and community around trail running brings her joy, along with the excitement of exploring new trails and friendships in the sport.
Episode 102: Shea Aquilano - Why Shea is One to Watch in 2026
Q: But Western States last year, I remember you came out really strong. You were in the top 10 for a lot of the day. How do you feel looking back at that race and what would you do differently next time you get the chance?
A dream to be at the start line with nerves and high expectations; the race delivered great early miles but the wheels came off later. I'd focus on getting my quads more resilient, manage expectations, and remember that what happens on race day isn't always dictated by preparation alone. Crossing the finish, even slowly, is still a win in the context of the dream of competing at Western States.
Episode 98: How Western States Champion Caleb Olson Fuels for the Trails
Q: How has Caleb's fueling approach evolved from his early ultras to his current training and racing at the top level?
He moved from minimal intake and poor planning to a highly structured, hourly fueling plan with labeled gels and planned nutrition at each aid station, driven by learning from teammates and trial at races like Cape Town and Worlds. This shift included adopting Precision Fuel & Hydration products and adjusting total carb intake to stay above 100 g/hour, plus attention to pre- and post-run nutrition for recovery.
Episode 97: Black Canyon 100K Head to Head: Jenn Lichter vs Anne Flower
Q: What was the effect of new sponsorships on your approach to the race and training?
Both noted support from Nike/HOKA and ACG, with Jenn acknowledging sponsorship pressure was manageable and empowering, and Anne enjoying team support while maintaining a focus on race directly rather than sponsorship obligations.
Episode 97: Black Canyon 100K Head to Head: Jenn Lichter vs Anne Flower
Q: How did your nutrition and hydration plans hold up during the race, and what changes did you make on the fly?
Anne managed around 70-80 grams of carbs per hour using NeverSecond products with high hydration and stopped to refuel at regular intervals, while Jenn used a combination of Tailwind, Endurance Fuel, and Coca-Cola, carrying a vest to manage fluids and adjusting gel timing to avoid stomach overload.
