Still today we feel the shadowy presence of our ancestors' struggles to explain the mysterious in almost every facet of our lives. Whether it be in the form of religion, urban legends, pop culture, ghost stories, superstitious rituals, and so much m... more

I absolutely love this podcast. The stories are so interesting and well researched. The Curse of Winthrop Falls is something I listen to every year now around Halloween to get me into the spirit of the season. Keep up the great work!
I enjoy this podcast so much. Idk why everyone is hating on you so much, keep up the good work!
This podcast is outstanding! Incredibly well researched, written, and produced š¤ a lot of complaints about her voice- but I think her voice works very well with the subject matter and is delightfully unique. Yea she mispronounces some things, but have yāall ever heard a podcast? They all do! IMO- itās worth a good listen because itās so well done, the research show a lot of care, and the writing isnāt lazy and repetitive like some of the bigger podcasts. Give her her flowers now š„š„š„
I want to like this podcast SO BAD. The stories could be amazing but the hostās voice sounds like sheās trying too hard to sound āgrimoireā and she ends up just sounding like a grimmed-out version of vocal fry. I am embarrassed for her. Itās annoying to try to follow the story. And if sheās using AI for vocals? š¤¬ā¦as a lifelong writer and creative myself, thatās unforgivable. Just tell us a story in your own voice, and Iāll raise my rating.
I was so excited about the Russian Hill series as I used to live on the tip top of Russian hill on filbert and Hyde. But the slow cadence and mispronunciations make it unlistenable. She reads like a robot, haulting and unnatural. Almost like she is reading from a teleprompter and she has caught up to the end of the prompt and has to wait for more words to populate on the screen.
It is also written like she is from the 1800ās or something, and furthermore as though she is not a native English spe... more

A folklore-tinged, story-driven show that blends eerie legends, historical mysteries, and cultural folklore with modern narration. Episodes frequently center on ghostly tales, witchcraft, urban legends, and mythic creatures, skewing toward atmospheric storytelling and careful historical context. Interludes often insert brand reads, but the core is a cozy, unnerving exploration of beliefs, rituals, and societal fears across cultures. The host voice is a defining elementācalming and soothing for many, though some listeners critique cadence or pronunciation. Overall, it's likely to appeal to fans of mystery, folklore, and slow-burning narratives with a spooky edge.
