  • Highly Informative

These podcasts are amazing resources for founders. I’m an avid listener and love the content overall. One small piece of feedback is the new host (Hannah) often spends too much time echoing back to the guest what they just said and it comes off as if she’s trying to show off and sound eloquent. She seems very smart and genuine but would do well to let the guest shine a little more.

  • Startup CPG Retail Sales Tracker

I attended my first Grocery Run event in Chicago and had the chance to meet buyers face to face — then came home and listened to this episode. Everything landed differently because of that experience. The tracker suddenly made complete sense: the retailer sequencing, the review calendars, knowing how to structure your outreach. I could map it directly to the conversations I’d just had. If you’re an emerging brand, don’t sleep on this. And if you can get to an in-person event first, do it — you’l... more

  • Thank you for providing another resource in the world of CPG.

As a CPG brand, I find these podcasts educational, inspiring and informative. I love to learn other brands stories and the “why” behind the brand. It is refreshing and encouraging to know other brands challenges are the same or similar to your own and that you are not alone in navigating the sea of CPG.

Q: How do you find and recruit legendary board members and ensure they add real value?
Legends often come through serendipity or shared missions; you pitch the vision and then interview references, evaluating whether their experience and perspective will genuinely help grow the business, as shown by Seth's experiences with Gary Hirshberg and Jeff Swartz.
#247 - How to Build a Board with Seth Goldman, JUST ICE Tea
Q: When did you form your first board and why did you feel the need to do it then?
We formed Honest Tea's first board after we started taking in money from non-family investors; at that point there was a fiduciary duty to provide oversight and guidance to money we were receiving from external investors.
Bonus Episode: Khalil Khamis of Crafty Ramen
Q: How do you curate your skew selection without overwhelming customers?
They start with top-selling restaurant items, then add innovations that test well so there is balance between familiar favorites and new flavors, ensuring broad appeal without fatigue.
Bonus Episode: Khalil Khamis of Crafty Ramen
Q: How did that feel for you to place second in the Expo West pitch competition?
It was an honor to tell Crafty Ramen's story to a large group of CPG industry folks, and the achievement underscored the momentum and validation behind their growth story.
Investor Spotlight: Rogers Healy, Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners
Q: Today's question is, what are common things that shift a deal or diligence from conviction to ultimately passing on a brand?
Rogers explains that poor communication, lack of transparency, and misalignment in expectations are key factors that can derail a deal; he emphasizes the importance of timely, honest updates, thoughtful questions, and a diligence process that feels collaborative rather than combative.
