  • Love the passion

I really enjoy listening to the podcast! As an old turkey hunter that has a lot fewer seasons in front of me than behind me it is awesome to see someone one of their generation that really gets the pure side of the pursuit! I have had the privilege to meet Hunter and Chase on a couple of occasions and they are very respectful and genuine!

  • Best turkey podcast out there

I find myself listening to the same episode 2-3 times each week they are released. Not a bad thing to say about these guys. Have been listening to this podcast for nearly 3 years, and the true passion and love for chasing spring gobblers is rare.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Wild Turkey Archives: Turkey Hunting Culture, History, and All Things Old-School
Q: What is The Wild Turkey Archives and why is it urgent to digitize now?
It's a multi-media, multi-generational project aiming to preserve and share turkey hunting history, from old tapes to photographs and magazines; the urgency comes from degrading formats like 3/4 inch tapes that must be baked and digitized before they deteriorate beyond recovery.
Trumpet Calls and Georgia Turkey Hunting with Clay Townsend
Q: So, I always like to ask people, you know, what's a memorable hunt that stands out, maybe, whether it's recent, whether it's from 10 years ago, 20 years ago, however long it may be, you know, if there's one that you could tell the story of, what would it be, if I don't want to put you on the spotlight too hard, but just one you can talk about.
Dawson and I recall a memorable Osceola hunt in Okeechobee where our roosted bird unexpectedly turned away, and after several hours we managed to close the loop and take a first Osceola together, a moment that underscored the importance of patience, teamwork, and shared success in hunting.
Sleazy of Pinhoti Project | Old-School Turkey Hunting and Most Memorable Hunt
Q: When did Sleazy come into play, and where did it come from?
He explains the nickname originated from a late-night joke and a memorable first turkey kill, which cemented it and made it a go-to name for him.
Situational Turkey Hunting | Henned Up Gobblers, Calling to Roosted Turkeys, Locating, and more
Q: What should you do when approaching a gobbler on the limb?
Get as close as possible without spooking the turkey and assess the situation before calling.
LIVE From Starkville: Talking Turkey with Lake Pickle and Jordan Blissett
Q: Would you rather slip in close or set up in a bottom where you heard him the day before?
If I know where he's roosted, I’ll get as close as possible before he gobbles, but if I don't know, I’ll still try to get as near as I can.
