Love Mossy Oak Gamekeepers & Fist Full of Dirt both!! Such a great company, great people, with great values. And man the guest on the recent shows have been on fire!! Mr. Mark McPhail is such a great human and in my eyes a legend amongst call makers and always a familiar face in Nashville. And the Alan Jenkins episode was another masterpiece full of knowledge and history!! After hearing it I immediately went and ordered one of his maple Ambrose slates over glass!! • A real turkey hunter.

Finally a real turkey hunter. He refers to them as turkeys, not birds. And, I bet he doesn’t pick them up by the head either.

EP:446 | Talking Turkeys, Deer and Food plots with Kevin VanDam
Q: What did Kevin do to manage his fall plots in northern Michigan, and when does he plant them?
He plants fall plots starting early August, timing around rainfall; for clover plots he uses augments with cereal grains and brassicas, and prefers later planting for better stand establishment and deer browse through spring.
EP:445 | Understanding Fire Ants
Q: Johnny, how far east, north and west have fire ants progressed?
Fire ants have spread from Mobile outward, with ongoing concerns about range expansion; management focuses on containment and targeted control rather than eradication.
EP:440 | Crawfish
Q: How long does it take crawfish to grow from seed to harvest?
Typically about three months, depending on weather and water conditions, with warmer falls giving a head start on growth.
EP:437 | Florida Turkey Project Update
Q: What are the most important habitat features to maximize nesting success?
Improving nesting cover, ensuring open but structured vegetation, and providing a mosaic of forbs and grasses to support insects and brood-rearing, all while maintaining a landscape that reduces predation, are key.
EP:438 | A Discussion with Dr. Guy Harvey
Q: Can you share a standout fishing/observational moment that informed your work?
The Tropic Star Panama 2005 encounter with a 12-1300 pound marlin and the underwater footage with satellite tagging highlighted the scale and complexity of billfish biology and the value of in-water observation.
