  • Good stuff !

I bought a sailboat before ever having sailed, and Jeffrey has been a bit of an inspiration. Have to thank Derrick Cogburn (whose boat Arcadia I bought) for the intro to the podcast. Love to hear about other people’s misadventures so I don’t feel so bad about being the world’s worst sailor.

    Sail On, Brother.

STBSP Ep, 204, Going the Whole Hogg with Kim and Del on Tall Ships
Q: What has filming at sea taught you about your craft and audience?
Filming at sea forced us to rethink narrative structure from a fly-on-the-wall perspective and to balance timing, safety, and storytelling, which deepened our ability to convey atmosphere and process rather than just action.
STBSP Ep, 204, Going the Whole Hogg with Kim and Del on Tall Ships
Q: How did you transition from general travel to making sailing-focused content?
We began with a love of travel and storytelling, then embraced video and documentary-style filmmaking as a natural extension, eventually partnering with Venture Sail which provided access to historic ships and a built-in audience eager for immersive, vessel-centered storytelling.
STBSP Ep, 199, 2025 Annapolis Sailboat Show, part 2.
Q: What are you doing here at the show?
I'm hanging out with the Moorings and enjoying reconnecting with friends and meeting new people.
STBSP, Ep, 195, Thad Van Gilder talks about Tuckahoe Traditional Watercraft
Q: How did you get into forging bronze?
I learned to cast bronze because I couldn't afford bronze hardware from the companies supplying it while building wooden boats.
STBSP, Ep, 195, Thad Van Gilder talks about Tuckahoe Traditional Watercraft
Q: What makes Bronze so good for boats?
Bronze retains its strength over time and protects itself through a corrosion process that creates a protective layer without significantly degrading the underlying material.
