And will mankind ever invent something better than ‘90s-era “Simpsons?” Mixing political history, pop culture, rank punditry, and shameless book-plugging, Goldberg and guests will have the kinds of conv... more

Decent Show. Didn’t understand why I was listening to him, but I was.

Wouldn’t say I was missing it, but found myself listening to about every third episode.

With the economy in tough shape, and 40% of Americans can’t afford an unexpected expense of $1,000, he now believes his sometimes middle amusing, shared self-moan is worth monkey many of is don’t have?

As Maggie on Caddyshack said…. Tanks Fer Nuttin!

  • Pay wall mistake

I listen to lots of podcasts, the way they make money off of me is through ads. I used to subscribe to The Dispatch but my interest fell off both due to them switching out their main podcast host and my politics not being as aligned in the last few years - and honestly I wanted to consume less politics. But I still liked listening to Jonah on occasion. Taking this behind the paywall was a purely a business decision (probably a desperate one) that I feel like will hurt this podcast and will likel... more

  • The TPS Supreme Court Case

Congress cannot provide in a statute that Unconstitutional acts cannot be reviewed by the courts. It took Justice Alito to determine that Trump’s statements about Haitians were not racist, in one of the great pretzel-bending discussions of all time. And that even one non-racial pretext is sufficient to preserve Constitutionality. That is why so many legal scholars are up in arms over the TPS case. And yes, I did listen to Advisory Opinions before writing this.

Very confusing points made on this podcast with Podhoretz… “we liked Midnight Hammer, we don’t like that he stopped where he did, no difference than the JCPOA but Iran is weaker, we did want regime change but not who we are talking to… the strait was”open” blah blah

Good discussion with Charlie Cooke. He gave you the solution to expanding your paid subscribers for the Dispatch. Start (again) prioritizing the larger threats to this country. Everyone has heard your beef with the guys on the rig... more

Live From the American Enterprise Institute! | Interview: Yuval Levin
Q: Is it realistic to imagine Congress reclaiming its proper role given 50-50 partisan dynamics?
Congress can and should reassert its authority, but it requires political will and reforms that restore incentives for lawmaking and coalition-building rather than executive-empowered governance.
The Rise and Fall of the Nation State | Interview: Rana Dasgupta
Q: What is your theory of the case about where the nation state comes from?
The nation-state emerged from historical processes tied to finance, technology, and military advances in early modern Europe, especially France and Britain, where centralized state power, central banks, and mass propaganda created a framework that tied citizens to a national identity while serving imperial and capitalist expansion.
