  • Almost Perfect Except Word Choice

Dropped Chris Hedges and the host could use less phrases like “Defund the police,” and instead just identify the problem that we need to work together to address, this show would be almost perfect. The reporting is very accurate and thorough. Love how they stand up for workers

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Rep. Justin Pearson: MAGA Eliminated My Congressional District. I'm Still Running.
Q: Representative Pearson, what can people do to respond to attempts to rig the midterm elections and redraw maps?
Pearson emphasizes mass mobilization, volunteering, phone banking from anywhere, and broad turnout to overcome district changes, asserting that organized, widespread efforts can make victory possible even if the playing field has been altered.
What Is Free Speech? America at 250
Q: Where do you see we are today with free speech in the United States?
The discussion suggests free speech is under stress from political polarization, corporate influence, and calls to redefine it; yet there remains a strong belief in First Amendment protections, though its practical effect is contested by what happens online and in media ecosystems.
FBI Raids Homes of Michigan Students and Workers for Palestine Activism
Q: What do we know as of right now and what has this looked like on the ground in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti?
The raids appeared sudden and shocking with violent entries, including flashbangs and armored vehicles; several people were detained then released on bond, with charges focusing on conspiracy to transmit a threat rather than visible property damage, signaling a broader pattern of federal action against Palestine solidarity activism.
From Mussolini to Mass Incarceration: Why Gramsci Matters Today
Q: First, explain to our audience who Antonio Gramsci was.
Alberto Toscano explains that Gramsci was a leading Marxist theorist and former secretary of the Italian Communist Party, whose writings in prison—later collected as the Prison Notebooks—developed ideas about hegemony, cultural leadership, and the role of intellectuals in organizing working-class movements.
Fired & Jailed: Attacks on Free Speech Under Trump
Q: How are coordinated campaigns affecting academic freedom and speech online?
Experts describe a 'heckler's veto' mechanism where influencers and online campaigns push administrators to take action against faculty or students, often leveraging social media to create reputational and political pressure that leads to firings or investigations.
