Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inspiration, Copying, and the Courage to Own Your Creative Vision with Cat Race
Q: What is the point of looking at someone's photo for inspiration versus copying? What's your stance on that?
Inspiration is fine, but you should add your own unique spin and credit the source when appropriate; copying an exact setup becomes problematic and can alienate audiences. The balance lies in learning from others, then transforming the idea into something personal and original that reflects your own voice.
Third Party Marketing for Pet Photographers: How Kirstie McConnell Built a Fully Booked Calendar After Relocating to a New CityThird Party Marketing for Pet Photographers: How Kirstie McConnell Built a Fully Booked Calendar After Relocating to a New City
Q: How did you manage to have a fully booked calendar before returning to Australia?
By identifying ideal partners, building a large outreach list, personalized initial emails, then following with simple, plug-and-play collaboration templates, and finally leveraging a high-velocity ordering process that converts inquiries into booked shoots.
The Facebook Ad and Giveaway System That Books Out a Studio 4 Times a Year with Jason Krygier-Baum from Fido Foto
Q: How do you structure your lead generation campaigns to fill a quarterly booking calendar?
We run four giveaways per year, each designed to book three months of sessions. We drive traffic with Meta ads to landing pages, collect leads, rank winners with a non-random process, and automate follow-ups to convert a solid portion into bookings.
Why Pet Photographers Should Document Their Own Dogs | Personal Projects, Legacy and Life with Kerry Martin
Q: How did you get into pet photography and start documenting your own dogs as a project?
Kerry explains she started photographing animals casually during travel in the Navy, then discovered a passion for capturing her own dogs as a way to document everyday moments and share the love with others who cherish dogs, which gradually evolved into larger projects.
How to Build a Content Strategy That Gets You Found and Gets You Booked with Claire Lauer
Q: What marketing services do you provide for photographers?
Claire explains that she narrows focus to SEO and content marketing for photographers, helping clients rank higher in search results and build sustainable visibility, while also addressing sales processes and pricing strategy to convert traffic into bookings.
