  • This is the podcast for you…

Louise has what it takes to help people feel consoled, understood, and validated before, during, and after pet loss. I was heartened early on to hear Louise describe pets as companions, best friends, and family; thereby explaining why it’s so hard to lose them She also addresses the myth that pets can simply be replaced.

Because of her own pet loss experience and vulnerability, Louise is able to personally connect with the listener and to help listeners feel not alone in the grief. For this rea... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

78. When the world says"It's just a pet"...
Q: What can you create from somebody's words that have silenced you and your pet loss grief?
Louise encourages listeners to reflect on how to make peace with someone's hurtful comments by transforming that energy into something positive and creating noise around their grief.
71. A new pet can heal your heart. Myth or Fact?
Q: What should someone consider when thinking about getting a new pet after a loss?
They should assess their emotional readiness and ensure they are not trying to bypass their grief but are truly ready to form a new connection.
73. Universal challenges grieving pet parents face...
Q: Why do I still cry? Shouldn't I be over this by now?
There is no timeline for grief; it's how one moves through it rather than getting over it, and crying is a healthy expression of that grief.
73. Universal challenges grieving pet parents face...
Q: What if I could have done more?
Many grieving pet parents question their previous decisions regarding their pet's care and often feel guilt and regret, which are normal emotions.
51. Stefanie and Chip
Q: Would you think that when the times that you were home with her, would that kind of create like a stronger bond or the different times in your life that you felt the bond would have been stronger than others?
Certainly, I mean, when I lived in Atlanta and Miami, my family is from Virginia, so it's a flight away. It's not a drive. And I lived on my own. There were times where I felt a bit lonely being single and saying, Oh, my goodness, like, I'm here by myself. And I wanted to be with my mom and dad or be with some friends from home. And I couldn't because in order to do that, I had to hop on a flight. And I remember calling my mom upset or crying about whatever thing. And she said, Just hold Chip. Just put Chip in the bed with you. Cry with Chip. Hold Chip. And so a lot of those times when times were rough and I was living far further away from home, it meant so much to have Chip right there by my side to bring comfort.
