Once again-an excellent podcast. Going through the case study and explaining your thought process (with biases) was so helpful. Thanks!

  • Constipation episode

EXCELLENT presentation on making a diagnosis that initially seemed so straight forward, until the patient did not respond to the treatment recommendation and became sicker. Add to that- provider bias, incomplete history taking, and accepting others’ diagonoses.

Q: What strategies emerged as most effective for addressing hesitancy in practice?
Effective strategies are multi-component and centered on clear, accurate education, strong provider recommendations, permission to share information, respect for autonomy, and motivational interviewing that builds trust and collaboration over time.
Immunizations Updates: Assessing Vaccine Hesitancy with Dr. Maddie Manfredi (S13 Ep. 86)
Q: How do you define vaccine hesitancy and why does it matter in pediatric care?
Vaccine hesitancy is a spectrum of delay or refusal despite vaccine availability, driven by beliefs, experiences, trust, and safety concerns. It matters because even small declines can undermine herd immunity and increase outbreaks, especially for diseases like measles.
