  • Just a mom :)

I’ve been binging on your podcast this week. It’s so informative for me as a mom on the other side of the exam table. I find the tips really useful and the dad jokes and puns amusing :) Thank you for tackling all the subjects (common place to polarizing) with such decorum. And shout out from a VCU alumni (Art school) :)

  • Engaging

I found Cribsiders only last week and have enjoyed a few episodes already. Originally I was interested because the name drew me in. I opened my own concierge infant practice in Florida this year named Crib Calls. However, given the current topics, engaging hosts, and reliable information, I will be listening often not just because of the shared name.

  • Highly recommend

Love this podcast! I have been in practice for many years but I learn a great deal with each episode. Even if it is about a subspecialty subject I gain better understanding of the topic and learn when to refer and what workup is appropriate.

S7 Ep170: Bridging the Gap: Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care
Q: What is the next frontier in integrative behavioral health in primary care?
Opportunities include task-sharing with non-physician staff and paraprofessionals, expanding care manager roles, and leveraging technology while ensuring equitable access, so more families can benefit from integrated care without overloading the workforce.
S7 Ep170: Bridging the Gap: Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care
Q: How can integrated behavioral health help with urgent concerns like suicide risk in adolescents?
Co-located behavioral health clinicians provide advanced triage, determining the level of crisis care required and helping escalate to emergency or higher levels of care as needed; they also support pediatricians in ongoing assessment and safety planning while coordinating with specialists.
S7 Ep170: Bridging the Gap: Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care
Q: What are the proven benefits of the primary care behavioral health model across the lifespan, and which ages or conditions does it work best for?
Benefits span birth through adolescence, including reduced anxiety and depression symptoms, better sleep, improved treatment adherence, and reduced caregiver stress; perinatal and infant parity are supported by dyadic and Healthy Steps approaches, with benefits expanding to school-age and adolescent mental health as partnerships mature.
S7 Ep170: Bridging the Gap: Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care
Q: In addition to long wait times and challenges with insurance, what additional barriers have you heard from your patients and their families?
Common barriers include transportation, scheduling around work and school, and geographic proximity to services; addressing these requires flexible clinic models, on-site behavioral health support, and coordinating care with families to minimize missed visits.
S7 Ep169: A Breath of Fresh Air: Non-invasive Respiratory Support
Q: Can you remind me what the difference is between respiratory distress and failure and what the definitions are?
Respiratory distress refers to a clinical diagnosis indicating difficulty in breathing, while respiratory failure indicates a failure to maintain adequate gas exchange as defined by specific blood gas parameters.
