Love this podcast and its take on format. It’s brilliant way to present the news when there are a million same old news podcasts out there. It’s really just brilliant and what I’ve been waiting for.
P.s I heard an advert for this ages ago but could never find it & kept finding “The news agents” and remember thinking something wasn’t right but I knew this was out there and so glad I finally did find it.
I use this podcast to get news that is considered and non sensational. This week you had 2 American journalists. I listen to this podcast because it’s NOT American. Prefer if you kept it Eurocentric. Would an Irish or French journalist be a better inclusion if you want to expand?
What I love about this show is that it helps me better understand not just some of the crucial events in the world right now but also the forces that go into deciding what we know and when we know it… It’s been great for me - as the world burns - to get under the hood of how ‘papers’ work.

Three newsroom journalists pit pitches against each other each episode to decide which lead story should dominate. The format blends rapid-fire editorial debate with behind-the-scenes reasoning about why certain stories rise to the top, covering current events, politics, culture, and media industry dynamics. Guests often include political analysts, editors, and investigative reporters, offering sharp, real-time journalism perspectives and practical storytelling angles for listeners interested in how editorial decisions are made and how news gets built. A notable strength is the consistently collaborative yet competitive show dynamic, with a clear emphasis on process, angle selection, and the ethics of reporting. It's especially useful for l... more
