No podcast has this level of volatility in terms of guest quality or host engagement. It’s either pocket aces or 2-7 off-suit with nothing in the middle. At the risk of being rude, the more high minded the guest the greater the slog. Funnily enough authors and actors make the worst guests, while directors and producers (music and film) are the best guests. Go figure.
"The Moment" with Brian Koppelman consistently delivers insightful conversations, and the "Best Of" episode with Julia Cameron is a prime example. Brian's genuine engagement and deep connection to Julia's work, "The Artist’s Way," shine through, making this episode a masterclass in authentic dialogue. For anyone seeking inspiration and a deeper understanding of the creative process, this episode is a must-listen. Kudos to Brian for creating such a resonant space for exploration and reflection.
The David Lipsky episode that Brian says is the reason he podcasts is unintentionally hilarious. Two privileged, pretentious peas one-upping each other in a pod. Brian can be an xlnt interviewer, so let's say this was a "one for him" episode.

Just listened to your interview with Bruce Hornsby; your interactions with him were great. Didn’t seem like you were bogged down with a list of questions you had to get through. Seemed like a natural conversation - well done.
