Great podcast with Charles Joly. Thankfully, the Aviary sell the glass and the slingshot for the iIn The Rocks cocktail. I just make my own ice spheres with a round mold that I freeze for 1 1/2 hours and then flip over and freeze for another 1 1/2 hours. That gives me a quarter inch shell which I’m able to then drain to put the cocktail into. Always completely blows everyone’s mind when they see one of those at a home bar. Keep up the great work
Sometimes not listen is way better than listening to the talking heads that drone on and on…
As a home mixologist, I have learned so much from this podcast. Between the interviews with distillers, the history lessons and the deep dives into various corners of bar culture, I am never bored and I always feel smarter after an episode.

A thoughtful, practitioner-oriented show that blends technical deep-dives with storytelling around cocktails, spirits, and bar culture. Recent episodes span topics like Australia's evolving spirits scene, data-driven approaches to flavor and menu design, the history and impact of tiki and rum, and the rituals and psychology that underlie drinking experiences. Notable strengths include a strong emphasis on practical takeaways for both home bartenders and industry professionals, a willingness to explore niche topics (e.g., flavor attractors, barrel aging perceptions, and global ritual practices), and guests who bring hands-on expertise from distilling, bartending, production, and journalism.
