  • Used to listen until today

Today they decided to become a propaganda outlet for the trump regime and I canceled my economist subscriptions in their entirety. He has never been brave, and you have been brainwashed. Shameful reporting.

  • Chavez

Listening to this episode today and the guest can’t help but try and sneak in the lie about the people “suffering” under Hugo Chavez. A man who reduced poverty more than anybody in the history of their country and was extremely popular. The economist is and always will be western propaganda. Perhaps the people of Venezuela would have been better off if the Bank of England hadn’t stolen their gold reserves. Interesting how they just gloss over all the US sanctions too, which have crippled the cou... more

  • BS Ads

Why do paying subscribers need to sit through long ads? Why are we paying this is ridiculous, I have not listened to the intelligence or weekend for 2 years because of this, came back and same BS ads for paying customers. Abuse us when it’s free not when we are giving you money!

  • Clearly Biased Reporting

I used to be a regular subscriber of the economist and read the publications in print regularly. I respected what I thought was a news platform that focused on facts and science based decision making. This podcast is nothing like that, it’s focused on attacking America and the decisions it makes almost every episode. facts be damned! The bias is clear and for someone that just wants a quick objective view of the world events daily, this is failing. Especially the episode where you called De Niro... more

  • Please choose your advertisers more wisely

I listen to The Intelligence regularly and enjoy the reporting and factual journalism. What I do not enjoy is hearing political advertising especially pro Trump propaganda that is most definitely NOT factual.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Deal or ordeal: Trump’s bad options in Cuba
Q: What would be the most realistic path forward if not military action?
A negotiated deal that opens up the economy and gradually transitions the political system, while rebuilding private investment and releasing political prisoners, could be possible but requires significant mutual concessions from both sides and a sustained international framework.
Deal or ordeal: Trump’s bad options in Cuba
Q: And so do you think a military option is a good option for the Trump administration, for Cuba, for Cubans?
The argument is that a military option is unlikely to work, carries high risks, and there's no straightforward exit; the Cuban regime is deeply entrenched, and a strike or invasion would likely be counterproductive or at least insufficient to change the regime.
New world of warcraft: how conflict has forever changed
Q: What should the next generation of armies look like given these shifts?
There won't be a single cookie-cutter answer; armies will need to blend legacy capabilities with new drone and cyber/electronic warfare elements, emphasize flexibility, deterrence, and rapid adaptation, and consider hybrid fleets and extended reach.
New world of warcraft: how conflict has forever changed
Q: Shashank, to your mind, how has war changed over the last eight years?
Technology has driven a succession of battlefield changes, with drones, sensors, and precision weapons making conflicts more transparent and lethal, prompting rethink of doctrine, force posture, and how nations prepare for a range of future threats.
Bibi, one more time? Israel’s election launches
Q: What is triggering the vote now in Netanyahu's government?
A dispute with ultra-orthodox coalition partners over a promised exemption from national service, which they have said they will no longer wait for, pushed the government toward dissolution and new elections.
