I was happy listening to a podcast by an amateur. But the host is constantly preaching about what he views as real historical work. Every other episode is a sermon about presentism. It’s obnoxious and at times embarrassing. It’s totally fine to be an amateur presenting the work of professional historians in podcast form. I wish that I had had a history teacher who loved history so much or who could make it half as interesting. Jack has a knack for choosing interesting tidbits, exploring details that make history come alive and yet the overall perspective is clear. He really has a great podcast and website.
