  • 10 blast beats out of 10

This podcast has been one of the few things keeping me insane throughout this unholy year. The boys never fail to entertain me, and the constant stream of unadulterated bangers that they recommend every week has been an absolute blessing. I’ve expanded my musical taste so much over the past 10 months of listening and have discovered so many gnarly bands because of Gary and Sonny. I honestly can’t think of two better dudes to have as my premier riff dealers! This pod is an instant 10/10 recommend... more

  • Excellent Podcast to Expand your Music Horizons

Sonny and Gary are a blast to listen to. They are probably the 2 best salesmen on planet Earth. The way they talk about the albums on their podcasts is like listening to kids in a candy store. Seriously, you could not even like heavy music, but after listening to one episode of this podcast i promise you will at least try to listen to some heavy music. These guys could suddenly stop talking about music and start trying to sell me a timeshare in the middle of a corn field in Nebraska and I’m pret... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Heavyist #280 Alex Teyen from Aversions Crown
Q: How was the workflow for writing and recording across continents?
Alex describes using a shared file of shortlists, writing sessions at a Dunkin Donuts in Hull, and collaboration with the rest of the band and Aaron from Black Tongue to shape the vocal parts and overall sound.
The Heavyist #280 Alex Teyen from Aversions Crown
Q: Where do we start with the conversation about Alex joining Aversions Crown?
Alex explains the excitement and nerves of joining a well-established band far from home, the intense audition process, and how the band's touring experience in Europe influenced their choice of vocalist.
The Heavyist #288 Jim from Mastiff / The Acacia Strain
Q: What was the decision process behind releasing an EP this time around?
The band weighed finances and creative focus, deciding that an EP would be leaner, more direct, and achievable given budget constraints and a desire to present a sharper, more immediate hardcore vibe.
The Heavyist #284 Brent Mills from Greyhaven
Q: What was it like working with producer Will Putney, and how did that shape the record?
Brent describes Will as an almost fifth member who pushes the band to embrace weird, bigger, and more ambitious ideas, with a collaborative dynamic where the band's input is respected and the process becomes faster and more fun.
The Heavyist #281 Justice For The Damned (with Alex Teyen)
Q: Al, do you have a relationship with this band already? Have you listened to their previous records, or is this something we've just sort of dropped in your lap?
Al explains that he was aware of the band and had some tracks on playlists but hadn't deeply engaged with them until now; after spending time with Stay Relentless, he found the record to be a monster, appreciating the sharper, more direct heaviness while still acknowledging the band's history and the evolution from Pain is Power.
