  • Loving the tidbits of info from all the interviews!

Loving the podcast! Just recently discovered grip/armlifting in August of '25 and competed in King Kong in October and the Arnold Armlifting open a few weeks ago. Just started my gym/fitness journey January'25 after not stepping in a gym for 23 years. I'm hooked on grip and armlifting and I appreciate the podcast so much! I'm about 1/2 through all the podcasts!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mike Saffell Interview (Episode 40)
Q: What's your take on the dual sanctioning and the state of rankings in Armlifting vs GSI today?
Dual sanctioning has created opportunities but also confusion; rankings should reflect a fair view of an athlete's performance across formats, with a goal toward unifying exposure and recognizing true progress across organizations.
Mike Saffell Interview (Episode 40)
Q: How have you seen training evolve from your early years to now in terms of nervous-system and postural approaches?
Training shifted from pure maximal lifting to integrating neurology—RPR, posturalogy, and eye/vestibular work—so athletes can manage arousal, recover better, and translate gains into sport performance.
Mike Saffell Interview (Episode 40)
Q: What initially drew you to strength training and later to grip sports?
I started in traditional football and later moved into strongman; I found that grip events were a natural fit that allowed me to leverage my strengths, which led to exploring Armlifting USA and eventually coaching and promoting events.
The Grip Show (Episode 32) 2 Year Anniversary (ft. Joe Hodgson)
Q: What are the ways you've seen the sport change, better or worse, in the last two years?
I think we've seen better accountability in lift calls, but some event formats have become less motivating for competitors.
The Grip Show (Episode 32) 2 Year Anniversary (ft. Joe Hodgson)
Q: What have you learned about the grip community in the last two years?
People in the grip community are very supportive and responsive to each other, and I've seen significant improvement in the technique and strength exhibited by many lifters over time.
