Great guest, and topics… however Yascha should talk less and listen more.
The most peculiar thing about ideologues (and centrist liberals who believe themselves to be non-ideological are the greatest example of this) is how dependably predictable their minds are. History, facts, electoral results, etc… that contradict their ideological positions can always be contextualized as the exception that proves the rule or brushed away as “agree to disagree (but ultimately I’m right wink, wink)”. A little policy nudge here, a think tank report there, sprinkle a light regulatio... more
Rapidly becoming one of my favorite podcasts. He brings on very thoughtful guests and is, himself, conscientious and an adroit host.
You are a well informed fellow and you interview interesting people. But you have a terrible habit of interrupting your guests, to give a long winded opinion of your own, when we really wanted to hear what the guest was going to say. You would improve your podcast a hundred fold by quitting the verbose interruptions. Otherwise you could quit having guests and just do opinion pieces.

The example of Denmark as a country that has managed to see off the right, by in part neutralising the immigration issue. Many thanks Yascha

A thoughtful, idea-driven program that hosts rigorous conversations with experts across politics, economics, public health, education, law, and culture. Episodes frequently explore democracy, free speech, policy design, and how institutions adapt to modern challenges, often weighing trade-offs with nuance rather than partisan certainty. A distinctive strength is the host's deep grounding in political philosophy and history, which yields long-form, evidentiary discussions with guests ranging from university professors to journalists and policy researchers. The show tends to attract listeners who value careful reasoning, civil discourse, and practical implications for understanding current events and public policy. A notable edge is the caden... more
