I love that I stumbled upon this podcast. It’s just two friends chatting and I feel like I’m right in on the conversation with them. My mother has always recommended Georgette Heyer books to me but I only recently really dove into the deep end. Love getting to hear the summaries and stories from other perspectives. Too much waffle at the start. For heavens sake. The guardians surname is pronounced Pennycook. No one is called Pennyquick. Unfortunately the peerless audio book narrated by Phyllida Nash is unavailable to new buyers but her rendition is a joy. The whole book is a joy.
Two good friends and some great books. Deeply comforting
I can’t imagine anyone doing a more thoughtful or charming podcast on these beloved books. Rach and Su clearly love and enjoy Heyer’s books, and do a great job of pulling attention to the characters and other facets of the books that make them sparkle, I also very much appreciate that they don’t shy away from the difficult issues (such as antisemitism and questions of consent) that a few of Heyer’s novels sadly implicate. I’m a huge GH fan and have been since I was a kid. I discovered this podcast after the first 8-10 episodes were made and I’m so glad I did! I loved hearing these two ladies discussing her work as real readers do, so I really enjoyed every episode, even the occasional mispronunciations, forgotten names and plot points: If I were lucky enough to have friends who are also GH fans this would be exactly how we would be! Each episode inspired me to read the book again, even the ones I like a bit less.... more
