  • Fascinating debut podcast series

I very much like Sam’s interview style where guests are posed open questions and allowed to talk and properly develop their ideas without the constant interruption that characterizes many podcast interviews. Looking forward to series two.

  • Bringing the pieces together ..

Sam and his guests do a good job of reminding us of the context and bigger pieces of the puzzle. When the risk is the daily news flow dominates. The episode with Paul Ryan was a particularly helpful reminder that the U.S. still has statesmen able to think strategically and with nuance. Let’s hope they win out!

When growth fails - Politics, economics and the new global order: Baroness Dambisa Moyo
Q: Do you see opportunities in this world, or is it all doom and gloom?
Opportunities exist but are highly sector-specific and demand one to recognize the shift away from a fully globalized system, focusing on where innovation and bottom-up dynamics still drive growth, especially in the U.S. and North America.
NATO, Private Capital & Innovation: Professor Dame Fiona Murray
Q: In 10 years time, what would the future entrepreneur look like in terms of skills and capabilities?
She expects mission-driven leaders who can read geopolitical shifts and translate them into strategic business decisions, capable of bridging idea generation, capital deployment, and production with a cosmopolitan, well-informed mindset.
NATO, Private Capital & Innovation: Professor Dame Fiona Murray
Q: Can you just give our listeners a sense of this journey of yours?
Dame Fiona describes a career spanning Oxford, Harvard, MIT, and leadership roles at MIT and NATO, emphasizing a consistent focus on deploying academic insight into real-world impact and building the systems that commercialize ideas into ventures and jobs.
The Art of the Diplomatic Deal: Lord Darroch
Q: Why is Ukraine treated as secondary in the grand deal with Russia, according to your view?
Ukraine is viewed as a bargaining chip to unlock Russia-related energy and resource access, with the deal prioritizing rapid de-escalation of conflict to advance broader strategic and economic objectives.
The Art of the Diplomatic Deal: Lord Darroch
Q: Last time you and I spoke, what has surprised you about how things progressed under Trump 2.0?
Some aspects were expected, but the velocity and domestic divisiveness exceeded expectations, with tariff policies evolving rapidly as mainstream advisers sometimes blocked or enabled different directions.
