  • Variety and informative

    Great podcast and great conversations!

The variety of conversations is what makes this podcast my go to just now. Dane (The host) has a very relaxed way of interviewing his guests and every episode I have listened to has been very informative and open, almost as if I was on the call.

AI, Meetings, and the Future of Teamwork with Rebecca Hinds, PhD
Q: What is 'meeting debt' and why should leaders care about it?
Meeting debt is the buildup of recurring, unproductive meetings whose purpose becomes unclear over time; leaders should care because it drains energy, reduces clarity of ownership, and wastes valuable time that could be used for meaningful work.
AI, Meetings, and the Future of Teamwork with Rebecca Hinds, PhD
Q: What is the core distinction between collaboration and coordination, and why does it matter for meetings?
She outlines that collaboration is bi-directional and often synchronous, while coordination is more about asynchronous handoffs and bottlenecks, highlighting why simply increasing collaboration can backfire without proper coordination.
AI, Meetings, and the Future of Teamwork with Rebecca Hinds, PhD
Q: How did you come to focus on this intersection of AI, meetings, and teamwork?
Rebecca explains her long-standing interest in how organizations are designed and how collaboration and coordination play distinct roles, with AI entering the picture as a tool that could either help or hinder—depending on system design and leadership focus.
Fixing Fairness at Work with Lily Zheng
Q: What is the evolving role of HR in this new fairness-focused paradigm?
Lily traces HR from a traditional policing role to a potential change-management function, stressing that leaders must delegate responsibility and empower HR to evolve systems, not just enforce them.
Fixing Fairness at Work with Lily Zheng
Q: Where do leaders who want to make real change start, given the pull of quick, superficial DEI fixes?
She suggests identifying and supporting leaders who treat their people as assets, implementing regular dialogues, one-on-ones, and system-level changes, and designing environments that fit the diverse needs of their teams rather than applying one-size-fits-all training.
