Okay I wasn’t expecting to cry at the end but they really got me. The plot twist really pulled the story together and just hit me right in the feels!! Also the characters are funny and I loved the best friend shenanigans. I can’t wait for the next musical podcast!!! <3
The soundtrack is upbeat and broadway-esqe and the actors have lovely voices and energy to their performances. Friendship plays an important role in the characters' lives, which is nice. The side couple is entertaining. The romance between the two leads develops a bit fast for my taste. The exploration of the daughter's complex grief for her father is interesting. Plot leans into cliches, especially in the misunderstanding that causes conflict in the penultimate episode. The addition of a narrat... more
I love campy, cheesy, classic style musicals and this podcast definitely earns its place among so many golden age greats! The characters are so compelling, and I find myself constantly humming the songs. Really hope this kind of thing catches on, and The Flame gets the recognition for really kicking off the genre!
I really wanted to love this, and did overall enjoy it. The songs were fun and it's lovely to get a lesbian romance. I did feel like there was an excess of cliche in the plot, though - nothing particularly inventive or groundbreaking here.
While I do also completely understand and respect the advertising hustle to fund a podcast like this, I found there wasn't a great balance between content and ads. Each episode is nearly 1/3 ads, credits and announcements - at the beginning, middle, and end. ... more
This podcast is a DELIGHT and I love it to pieces
As a kid of two theater majors I am a little prone to be attracted to musicals anyway... but, this one would have drawn me in had I not been. Great story supported with a phenomenal cast and brilliant musical numbers. Stop what you are doing and listen to this right now! Seriously... you are done reading this... go listen! Love yall! Cheers.
I just full on sobbed in the finale episode! The plot was so good and the music was absolutely beautiful and the cast was so chefs kiss! This is my new favorite musical and Jamie and Sam own my heart 🥺 Thank you so much Ellie and Leigh for writing such a beautiful queer musical with a happy ending!!! I hope to see this on Broadway one day! So much love!!!! 🌈❤️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Oh my god! It’s amazing! Two awesome things together, lesbians and musicals! So good!
i’ve never heard of a musical podcast before i’m so glad this one is the first one i’ve heard it’s so good, the music is 👌, and the story is awesome 10/10
also it helps me get through my internalized transphobia saying im not a real boy and when my boyfriend hasn’t read my texts in three days but has updated their snapchat so that’s a plus

Thank you for giving me life! ❤️
It’s my first time writing a review here. I really like this and I want to see it live! And the queer representation is gold
I love it so much! It’s so well put together and the plot and cast are both phenomenal!
I love this so much! I can’t wait for more episodes!
There are so few musicals that have the same wonderful queer representation as The Flame. Great songs! I love this podcast so much that I have listened to all available episodes multiple times.
I had no idea musical podcasts were a thing, but I am SO GLAD they are. For me, this show meets my needs for both musical theatre and queer storytelling, while also leaving me blown away by the talent and production quality. I just keep listening to the episodes on repeat all week until the next one comes out. Would LOVE to see this on the stage some day!
