  • Great podcast

I have been so grateful for this podcast and all the wisdom the cohosts share. My only request would be to include more insight from parents of neurodivergent children and professionals in this area. Christian parents of children with ADHD, autism, etc. can often feel judged and isolated in church settings, and the common advice offered re discipline etc. isn’t always effective or appropriate for these children, leading to frustration and confusion. It would be so valuable to have more discussio... more

  • Can’t wait for season 2!

2025 Update: A podcast that even the ads are enjoyable?! That’s right. This podcast is packed full of tips, resources, admonishments, encouragements - you will grow as a parent and your family will grow in Christ-likeness through the topics discussed on this podcast.

Binged this podcast after I found it around Christmas (I was searching for different perspectives on how to do “Santa” in our home). Anxiously waiting for season 2 to drop! Such wisdom shared in each podcast episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#148 - Telling Kids Stories with S.D. Smith, The Author of The Green Ember Series
Q: Why are stories important for faith formation beyond just teaching moral lessons?
Sam argues that stories provide armor for the soul by letting readers experience reality and truth directly through imagination, which shapes belief more deeply than simple propositions.
#148 - Telling Kids Stories with S.D. Smith, The Author of The Green Ember Series
Q: What does the space called The Forge look like for Sam when he writes, and does he need to be alone or with family around?
Sam describes The Forge as a small, organized space where creativity flows, balanced with reminders of his kids' artwork and family memories; he values both solitude for focus and family presence as part of the creative process.
#146 - Resisting Culture’s Discipleship with Elizabeth Woodson
Q: How can families start small if they feel overwhelmed by spiritual disciplines?
Begin with one tangible habit, like family prayer or reading a couple of verses together, and ensure the practice is about encountering God rather than ticking a checklist; prioritize quality time with God over quantity.
#146 - Resisting Culture’s Discipleship with Elizabeth Woodson
Q: Which of the seven stories is most dangerous for families, and why?
Rage and discontentment are particularly dangerous because they distort how families handle conflict and value, leading to ungracious responses and consumer-driven living that undermines gospel formation.
#146 - Resisting Culture’s Discipleship with Elizabeth Woodson
Q: What are some habits you think Christians should instill to discern truth from culture?
Prayer, engagement with Scripture, active participation in church community, confession and forgiveness, fasting, and serving others—habits that form love for God, neighbor, and the mission of Jesus.
